I hope you all do well in the bowl game, but White needs to pass more and i think that Noel Devine needs to be played more! Coach Rod is the greatest football coach in WVU history! =] and Pat White and i are getting married!

Hang in there guys. There are TENS OF THOUSANDS of loyal Mountaineers out there that have got your backs! You have brought us all great joy and this program will survive and prosper in the future. Some people don’t know what they’ve got till it’s gone. There is no better place in college football than WVU period.

smash the sooners!!!!! the only thing the team should concentrate on. Dont put any energy into anyone that doesn’t want to put the same energy back into you. The team will be in very capable hands and will be able to use that motivation of unloyalty to your advantage. I put my trust in the team not one man who doesn’t want to be there! I dont care what happens with any other team on the planet but I hope you guys know that the Mountaineer nation supports you and loves you no matter what. Show the nation that West Virginia Football is here now and will be for a very long time.

Gentlemen,

Thank you. You played like champions. You are truly the pride of WV tonight and forever. As Caridi would say “It’s a good night to be a Mountaineer, wherever you may be”

You are so right Chris. This outstanding group of young men brought back the pride recently put in jeopardy to the entire State of West Virginia and Mountaineers around this great country are so proud and grateful to them for all the effort it has taken on their part to keep their heads high and do what they do best – WIN with class. It’s too bad RR didn’t show his true colors prior to the Pitt game – we might be in the running for the National Championship now. However, I couldn’t be more proud of these young men and the classy, moral coach we NOW have leading them. GO MOUNTAINEERS!

It was so wonderful to see responsibility and integrity arise from the mess that was caused by Rich?s departure. The team, the assistant coaches and especially Coach Stewart deserve so much praise for their strength through all of this. They are the catalyst that will lead to healing and a new direction in the Mountaineer football program.

Thank you for everything and all the best for the future.

As a Morgantown native and WVU grad, I feel compelled to speak out. The WVU coaches and players had plenty of reasons to “fold it in” in what far too many of us saw as a “consolation prize” bowl game. Instead, you chose to exhibit the true spirit of Mountaineer Pride You seized the moment to show the world that you are truly champions. Considering the circumstances surrounding this game, I believe it will prove to have a greater impact and significance than had you played in the national championship game. You young men have shown your fans how to forget the past, live in the present, and look to the future. Many thanks to all of you for showing us what it means to be a Mountaineer!

Good luck guys tonight against the Sooners.

Remember 25 years ago the Mountaineers went out to Oklahoma to face the Sooners as underdogs and came home with a 41-27 victory.

We know win or lose though, you guys will handle yourselfs with dignity and class. As a lifelong Mountaineer fan, a former resident of the state and student at WVU, thank you for representing us all so well this year, both on and off the field!!!!!

Hey patty don’t u mean Coach Rod WAS the best coach in WVU history? He let all of us down by leaving. Loyalty is no longer a value people have in Professional sports and it seems in College sports now like it used to be. Im only 19 and I can see that. But on a lighter note I wish the Mountaineers the best of luck and I’m driving 36 hours from Morgantown to watch the game!! GO EER’S!!!

I am SO PROUD of you! You played with integrity, grace and outstanding talent…I love that we showed everyone we don’t need Rodriguez! And, that you are the team that I knew you were all season long. You should feel a huge amount of pride today! I live in Florida, and work with some die-hard Gator fans…it was so nice to come into work today and say, “Did you see MY Mountaineers shut down OK?” Way to go!

I went to babysit for my daughter and husband who live in the heart of OU country so they could go to the Fiesta Bowl to cheer on the Mountaineers (we’re all from WV). They had been continually harassed about how the “Sooners” were going to beat the hillbillies!!!! How sweet the victory is. It was a game none of us will ever forget. Thanks to the team for showing what Mountaineer football is all about. Coach R really did us dirty, not by leaving but the way he did it. Good luck to all the seniors in whatever role you choose in life. I’m sure a couple of you will be playing on Sunday’s soon. Next years team should be awesome as well. Can’t wait for the season to get started.

19 Albert | Dec 11 at 5:16 pm Reply to comment

Some say that the fact that we are not playing in the Championship game ruins the season, I think differently. Yes I was disappointed in the final games result, but I have moved on. You see, what BETTER way to gain the respect of all the nay sayers then to beat the team that alot of people picked to be the National Champs early in the season(Oklahoma). Winning the Fiesta Bowl in my opinion will gain WVU far more respect then had they won a “suspect” Nathional Championship” game. By suspect I mean the fact that everyone thinks the teams in that game backed into a possible title. Do you want OUR team to be that team through history that “Were Champs, but never should have been?” So coach Rod and players, know that ALL TRUE Mountaineer fans are 100% behind you and want to see you go to the Fiesta Bowl and run all over Oklahoma. CONGRATULATIONS on a GREAT SEASON SO FAR, let’s finish this thing off right!!! LET’S GOOOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!

I just want to say thank you for being so courageous this season. By courageous I mean doing what it takes to win games because you know these games mean more than anything to me and others around this nation. Thanks for the wins and the losses. I just appreciate you guys taking the field every day with the attitude to win games. I can’t wait to see you guys in the sugar bowl, I know people have been doubting you but I am not one of them. I think we have what it takes to beat the sooners…and with all that. Let’s Go Mountaineers!!!

Great season guys congrats on the big east. Pat White has a great arm, let him throw the ball for longer than a 2 yard screen against OK. thats how texas tech beat them thats how we have to beat them. Stop being so conservative we have the best talent in the country so lets use it. We have to set the bar right off the bat, by scoring and never look back. Best of luck and thanks for one of the best years in college football.

23 Fred Wyer | Dec 22 at 10:23 am Reply to comment

I totally agree with throwing the ball more. As a matter of fact, I know that OU will be keying on Slaton and White running the ball. I would start by passing the ball on every down until OU has to start defending the pass and then start calling some running plays. By staying with a more balanced attack from that point on I believe our boys can run away from mighty OU.

So the Pitt game was a bust. Everyone was upset understandably but now its time to get on the FIESTA BOWL track. You will be playing a much tougher opponent in Oklahoma than you would have in either Mizzou or OSU, and that earns much more respect than anything else. I want to see you all kick Oklahoma’s ass and prove every doubter and hater in this country wrong. Congratulations to Coach Rod and all the football team players! Positively, you did an amazing job in the field this year. Although we lost the chance to gain the “national” championship title and it caused debacle in morale, one loss to Pitt can’t erase your fascinating travail. Mountaineers: It is amazing how far our program has come and WVU is getting more respect each year despite the losses. I remember as a kid coming to games and all the fans would just be hoping for a win or upset…now we expect to win. Some fans don’t think about this as expectations have gotten out of hand. We still went 10-2 and are going to a BCS game again! That is a great accomplishment. Good luck vs. OU and know that all the true Mountaineers fans are with the team in all ups and downs. Show the nation the great team we are and personally for me since my uncle is an OU alum! West Virginia prides itself on this team because it means so much to our state. Well boys, it’s been a long road this season. There have been happy times, and sad. I’ve surely laughed, and cried with you. But overall, I couldn’t be more proud to be called a mountaineer. Some of my greatest memories not just this season, but the past 4 as well, have been at mountaineer games, jiggling my keys and chanting on first downs. I’ve done my fair share of jumping up and down while watching Pat on a break away run, Darius with his amazing catches, and Dingle and Berry on defense. As my last season with you mountaineers, I just want to thank you for all the memories, I could not be happier to call you my team. We deserve this bowl game, and I know that we will play with all we have.

One game doesn’t decide your legacy. Forget the past and move onward. You are a great team and under Coach Rod and staff great times are ahead of you. I hope Pat, Steve and the rest of the team members that are thinking about the NFL stay with us next year. Look what a team we can field.

Ask Major Harris what most important today.

Stay Focus and Good Luck.

One coach does not decide your destiny, We lost Coach Rodriguez due to greed….I love Mountaineer football, but I also have to support Women’s and Mens’s basketball, Gymnastics and Soccer..We can not punish every other sports program to keep Rich rodriguez…..You are the team…I pray that that you play a safe game and no injuries…..May you get the glory you deserve

There is not a time in my life when I feel happier than when I am at Mountaineer Field on gameday, and the only reason for this is because of the hard work, dedication, and fun that I see the team have when they are playing. When Pat White says quite down, we stay quiet, and when Keilen Dykes says get loud, you can bet that I am one of the loudest kids in that entire stadium. It gives me chills to think about it, and just so you know, I’ve given up speaking until January 2 so I can be as loud for as long as possible. I wish you all the luck in the world, but hopefully we won’t need it. I KNOW that we are the better team, with bigger hearts, and bigger goals and dreams. We can and will win this game, and I’ll be there behind you, cheering you on, just as I’ve been my entire life.
So thanks to the guys, all of them, and especially to RichRod—you’re a genious.

Your pride in your University definitely shows.

Big fan of the ‘eers, but the crap Rod keeps pulling each year of “speaking with other schools” concerning open coaching positions must be stopped. If he is not going to remain loyal to the Gold and Blue, then we should say good riddens. Our university does not need someone like Rich at the helms.

Starting from today on put the past dissapointments and things behind you and remember that you are a very talented and very capable team. Rely on each other and remember that you have beaten other teams in recent bowl games that people said we couldn’t beat. Just do what you can to prepare and go into the game knowing that you have every right to be there and you are just as talented as Oklahoma. Way to go Mountaineers bring us home a victory.

To All the WVU Players,

I am proud of the football team that hails the blue and gold, ever so fiercely. As you all must know, how very much you touch the lives of those that you do not know…folks who are scattered throughout the world that reign and resided in WV, are honored in your presence, as the team plays in the true grit of team spirit, pride, and respect.

I will be in the stands in Tempe cheering for every one of you, through thick and thin, through a hoarse voice, through interceptions, touchdowns, near misses, and fake out plays!

Play your best, play for your team, play to have fun, and play and dance out your hearts.

Each and every member of your football team goes out on the field, with well wishes, prayers, and goosebumps from their adoring fans, both near, and far, some close by, and some on the battle ground overseas! You are also our hero’s!!!!!!

Be Proud of your accomplishments, and be proud of the men you have become!!!!!

Rich, say it isn’t so! We have had one of the most talented teams in years ready to go to another BCS game and I am proud of all the players and the never give up attitude. Unfortunately you (Rich) certainly have lost sight of what is important; that being integrity; integrity to the team, school, state and the fans. Just weeks before the Fiesta Bowl not only do you take the big “M” job but “will not coach your players”. Just remember that a M is just a big W of WVU turned upside down like your priorities. Most Mountaineers are wondering how it could get any worse. The fact of the matter is that there has never been a more important time to be a mountaineer. Let?s show the world that anyone who thinks WVU is second rate has no idea what they are talking about. Fans and athletes are both going through tough times now.
