6 tj | Jan 5 at 7:25 am

Thank you for bringing home another bowl win. IT HAS BEEN, IS, AND ALWAYS WILL BE GREAT TO BE A MOUNTAINEER.

7 ed farris | Jan 5 at 7:26 am

Finally a team that can execute and play with intensity and put it away when you take the advantage. I will no longer classify the mountaineers as Redskin clones. When you can put points on the board it takes the pressure off the defense. There was no give up after Clemson scored first and then you swapped scores in the 1st qtr. You can be proud of your performance. Maybe the ACC shouldn’t have snubbed WVU when you applied to their snooty conference. Now act like champions and make all mountaineers proud.

8 Sheryl | Jan 5 at 7:31 am

Congratulations on a great win….it is a great night to be a Mountaineer!!!

9 Ron | Jan 5 at 7:38 am

43 Scott Turner | Jan 5 at 1:20 pm

Congrats on a huge Orange Bowl win. A total team victory with Off, Def and Specials contributing equally. Play of the game was the fumble on the Clemson goal line- #47 is my MVP for making that play happen. Totally turned the Mo and WVU was off and running.

What a great way to end the season. So proud my son chose WVU and that our family is able to take part in the celebration.

Go Mountaineers!

44 Derek | Jan 5 at 1:29 pm

That was a dominating performance. I have never witnessed a game that was so lop-sided. After watching the game, I am proud to say that I am proud to be a Mountaineer and can rub it in my Pitt friends’ face that they were all wrong about the WVU-Clemson game. :) I look forward to attending the football games next year whether we are in the Big 12 or Big East. Well remember 1958-1962 when we sat in the stadium and watched WVU football being miserable not being able to sneak a drink for a WVU touchdown or first down…..there were none…..thank God for basketball back then. Moving forward to today, and the last several years, super coaches, super teams headed to where we ended last night. Outstanding, congratulations, and wonderful entrance into a new year.

68 Gayle Ballard | Jan 5 at 7:01 pm

Gayle Ballard

PS I work for a Pediatrician in Oak Hill at Petersen Clinic. We are dedicating one of our rooms to YOU! We will see children and adults and they will see what can happen if you just keep pressing forward. We are in the process of opening up a new wing and filling it with Mountaineer memorabilia. If any of you are ever in our area, please stop and see us. We would love to have anything autographed from the team to display in that “special Mountaineer room”.

Thank you for the overwhelming pride we all feel because of our Mountaineer team!

76 Indran | Jan 5 at 10:57 pm

EVOL101 Darwin’s theory: “The evolution of a fumble return”?1). Maintain discipline 2). Be Johnny on the spot 3). Pluck loose football from pile 4). Return loose ball 99 yards for score 5). Include unsuspecting orange mascot in end zone celebration?.Now that’s one theory both creationists and evolutionists can agree upon?.VIVA MOUNTAINEERS!!!!

77 Jill | Jan 5 at 11:07 pm

I have not seen a team effort of that magnitude in a long, long time. Absolutely incredible guys! I wish there would’ve been 22 or more MVP awards because that truly is how many should be given out. But most of all, you guys showed so much inner strength, determination, and class. WAY TO REPRESENT WVU, THE STATE OF WV, AND YOURSELVES! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! HERE’S LOOKING TO NEXT YEAR!!!!!!!!!

The Orange Bowl game was FANTASTIC and each member of the WVU team played with such class. It goes without saying that you should be VERY proud of the record-breaking night and how you brought such pride to your loyal fans, to WVU and to the State of West Virginia. What an incredible way to close out the season! Now the eyes of the sports world are upon WVU, and we are hopeful that each member of the team realizes this and will continue to be a class act. We are also sending a special shout out to the WVU band. We recently saw their YouTube Tribute to the Armed Forces and it was SPECTACULAR!!

I have never been so proud to be a Mountaineer fan as I was Wednesday night. You showed the nation what it means to be a Mountaineer. When no one, except for Mountaineer Nation, thought you had a snowball chance in he** to win the Orange Bowl, you came out and proved them wrong! CONGRATULATIONS to everyone associated with the WVU football program.

BTW, tell Tavon and the team I sent ESPN an email requesting a written apology be sent to the team and a public on-air apology to the fans for the disrespect shown WVU during their coverage before and after the Orange Bowl. I was livid, Clemson this and Clemson that. You all showed them who we are. We are

As an alumni of WVU and someone who was born and raised in West Virginia I can’t express how proud I am of these players and coaches. You really showed everybody what it means to be a Mountaineer!Unfortunately we live in Cincinnati now, but we sport our blue and gold proudly! I have 3 boys 7, 9, and 13 and they wear their blue and gold to school every day, especially my 7 yr old, which isn’t always easy in an area so close to UC! They walk tall everyday, but a smidge taller after this game : )

106 Virgil Tacy | Jan 7 at 11:08 am

Wow! Just superb, indeed. Congratulations! You may never fully realize the extent of benefit to yourselves, the program, the university, and the state for this superior performance. I too cannot imagine what Jack Fleming would have sounded like in the coverage – I know I would have loved to hear it.

107 Kerr Family | Jan 7 at 12:08 pm

Watching you all at the Orange Bowl was a thing of beauty with the chemistry hitting on all cylinders. We are proud Mountaineers every day…...but these past few days we ae just over the top. We’re down in SC and I can assure you we had many SC folks congratulating us on your great win and asking if we’d seen any Clemson orange. Well, nary a spot of orange! Thanks to you and the coaches fo a truly great game.

108 Lynn | Jan 7 at 1:43 pm

Congratulations! This was the most awesome game ever!!! I’m already looking forward to next season (as always)!I’m so very proud of all of you! GO MOUNTAINEERS! How thrilling to watch your performance after hearing “NO ONE IS FOR WEST VIRGINIA” at the beginning of the game by one of the ESPN sports announcers. Whether you like us or not, you cannot deny the respect these fine young men deserve!!

109 Holly Mitchell | Jan 7 at 4:59 pm

Sincere thanks to each of you the players, Coach Holgorsen and the rest of the coaching staff who made this Orange Bowl win possible. The entire bowl result could not have been better. Great plays by offense, defense, and special teams show the true nature of our program. Every player deserves to be heaped in praise for the way they played, supported each other, and represented all of West Virginia. The very best moment of all came when Geno Smith, a kid from Florida, used (and meant) the phrase “our state”, in reference to WV. It is great to know that we have had a positive impact on the players who come to our state, and that sort of comment is why we are proud to call you our own. Go Mountaineers!

Great job to everyone. Thank you for representing a proud state and gaining national prominence and pride once again. You guys truly are the talk of the town, the apex in sports of the entire state of west virginia, and I only hope to see you fight for a national title soon!

I am so proud of these young men. I hope they don’t let this victory go their heads. They still have to work hard and be humble. I have been a season ticket holder since 1980 and have never had more fun than this season with the exception of 1989.

I noticed a comment regarding the band. What another great organization at WVU. I contacted ESPN and requested they feature the bands of each school. I was told that no one wants to watch a marching band at half time. I guess they really don’t understand how great our band is. The entertainment was pathetic to say the least. Also I noticed that the bands of Alabama and LSU were featured some at the championship game.

Again congrats to the players, coaches and everyone that works with team.

That was an AMAZING performance in the Orange Bowl by the ENTIRE team. I am especially HAPPY for the Offensive Lineman, they had been called out for most of the season and in the Bowl game, they played a NEAR PERFECT game. Geno was kept “Clean”, the Running game racked up good yardage, and pass Blocking was AWESOME!!! This is a GREAT BUILDING block for the jump to the BIG XII. LET’S GOOOOOO MOUNTAINEERS!!!!!

Congratulations on a spectacular record setting performance in the Orange Bowl. Total team effort that showcased Geno and Tavon at their best. With new Defensive leadership, next year should bring Golden results in Big 12 games. Great Night to be a Mountaineer.

As an alum of the University of South Carolina and new member of the Mountaineer family it was a great night for two reasons: Not only did my new team win, they crushed my old team’s biggest rival! Can’t wait for next year!
